Amstel Gold Race is on wish list for the leading women of Team SD Worx-Protime

"To win the Amstel Gold Race as Dutch champion would be very special"

The Amstel Gold Race is a home race for Team SD Worx-Protime. The team hailing from Bunde, Limburg, therefore hopes to fire the lead bullet for the second year in a row. The Dutch World team will come to the start with a rock-solid team: Demi Vollering, Lorena Wiebes, Lotte Kopecky, Mischa Bredewold, Elena Cecchini and Blanka Vas.

Demi Vollering: "I dream of triumphing in red-white-blue in front of my own people."

"Before the Tour of Flanders I was at altitude, I feel I came out of it in good shape. I had a good training week in Switzerland after the Ronde. In the Brabantse Pijl, Elisa Longo-Borghini beat me on value. Second is always sour when you ride in a team like Team SD Worx-Protime. The girls always work so hard for me, then I also want to give them the win back."

"The fact that I was able to complete the Ardennes Tripple last year remains one of the absolute highlights for me. I cherish that week. I had been angling for the Amstel Gold Race for some time. So my initial focus was there. That I was able to win the Amstel remains special to me. Then the focus went to the Flèche and then Liège-Bastogne-Liège. I still can't believe I succeeded. Should I be able to pull it off again this year, I would sign up blind. But first the Amstel Gold Race. The course suits me. To be able to ride this race as Dutch champion is very special. So I make no secret of the fact that I dream of triumphing in red, white and blue in front of my own people."
 

Lotte Kopecky: "Pleasant introduction last season to Amstel Gold Race

"Last year was a pleasant introduction to the Amstel Gold Race. As a team, we keep fond memories of it. Our tactics were very good last year and we were able to execute that clear plan to perfection. That way it's fun racing. This year they are predicting better weather. The cobbled classics remain at the top of my list, but the Amstel Gold Race is fun because it's still new to me. In Flanders I know the roads like the back of my hand, here I know them a little less. That makes me curious and that challenge is fun. We are coming to the start with a strong team. Lorena Wiebes is digesting the hills better and better and with Demi Vollering we have a specialist in the Ardennes classics at the start. We have to use each other's cards."

"I like the classic spring. I am curious to see how far I will get in the Amstel Gold Race and Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The Tour de France and the UAE Tour taught me that I'm climbing better and better. So I do have a healthy ambition, but for me it remains mostly waiting to see what is possible. I have found a good balance in my classical work and climbing. The fact that I won Paris-Roubaix makes me relaxed. But I am still very motivated for what is still to come."

Lorena Wiebes: "One day I want to win the Amstel Gold Race"

"Since I have been living in Limburg, I have gained even more love for the Amstel Gold Race. I know the roads inside out by now. Because I train here, I made strides in the hill work. In the long run I hope to win the Amstel Gold Race, now I mainly want to see how far I can get. I will need very good legs to have a chance. With me, it also mainly depends on how hard the other teams are going to make it. I drew confidence from the fact that I finished second on the Cauberg in the Simac Ladies Tour, but in the Amstel Gold Race a completely different field of riders is starting. So it will be an interesting race for me."

"The Amstel also forms the last race of my spring for me. That spring has certainly been successful already. It would be nice to end it with a win for the team and for me to feel good myself. Both in the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix, I felt I made a step up. At the same time, I managed to keep my sprint at a high level. It only makes me look forward to the rest of the season, but first one more blast in the Amstel Gold Race so."
