Marlen Reusser starts the Tour de Romandie (15-17 September) with healthy ambition. In her home race, the Swiss champion wants to ride a short classification. "After a cycling holiday with my boyfriend, the batteries are recharged to bang one last time this season. I hope to finish short in the classification," said Reusser.

Tour de Romandie marks the last stage race for Marlen Reusser in 2023. "I have scouted the queen stage. This one will be crucial for the final classification. There are a lot of altimeters and especially the last climb will be decisive. This will be a tough edition of the Tour de Romandie, which plays into the hands of our team. I am curious to see how well I hold up on the longer climbs. My form is good and I'm super motivated."

It would be the icing on the cake of a more than successful 2023 for the Swiss champion. "Beforehand, I had resolved that I wanted to make strides in the classics and stage races. My season start did not go smoothly, as I had to deal with illness and injuries nine times in the run-up. Good health is the foundation and a gift. After my altitude training in Sierra Nevada, I felt myself getting better and better. I was able to achieve what I was aiming for. The classics and stage races went even better than I dared to hope. I picked up seven victories and was able to play an important role in some Team SD Worx victories. With the team, we managed to win an incredible number of races. In terms of personal development, I also learned a lot and made strides."

At the Tour de France Femmes, Reusser won the time trial. At the World Championships on the road, she finished fourth. A few days earlier during global title race time trial she quit early. "I was ready for a break. That time trial was not actually a goal of mine, but other people indicated it as a goal for me. That race meant a hard stop for me, but I look at it as a valuable moment from which I learnt a lot.

In the road race, Reusser retaliated. She then took a break. "I had a nice cycling holiday with my boyfriend. That's where I found the motivation again. My form is still good and I just love riding races. Mentally, I'm a thousand times better now than I was in Glasgow. Life consists of ups and downs. I now hope to close the season in my own country with an up by achieving a good classification in Tour de Romandie," said Reusser.
