Team SD Worx-Protime aims for highest scaffold in Liège-Bastogne-Liège

"Hopefully we can end a so far beautiful spring campaign well"

Team SD Worx-Protime is fielding a strong team in Liège-Bastogne-Liège: Demi Vollering, Lotte Kopecky, Niamh Fisher-Black, Mischa Bredewold, Blanka Vas and Femke Gerritse. With that, the team hopes to win La Doyenne for the second year in a row. "This spring brought more suspense and battles. We are satisfied from our classic campaign. So far we competed for the win in every race. Hopefully in Liège-Bastogne-Liège we can grab our second monument of the season," said sports manager Danny Stam.

Danny Stam: "Liège-Bastogne-Liège is the final stage of the classic series. We are heading into the race with a good feeling. We come to the start with a strong group. We definitely have a chance to fight for the top spot. We are looking especially at Demi Vollering, who is in good form. Victory was not forthcoming for now, but she was already good for three second places. So Demi has already shown good performances. Liege-Bastogne-Liège is a big goal for her. She knows the course well. So she is our leading lady."

"Lotte Kopecky gets a free role. It's important that she gains experience. That she discovers how the climbs of this race suit her. You normally have to have ridden Liège-Bastogne-Liège once if you want to win it. In Demi's shadow, Lotte is a good second contender. Niamh Fisher-Black is also in good form and showed that she has made a step up. Too bad she couldn't show her good legs in the Flèche Wallonne due to a crash, but I think Niamh will play an important role in the final of Liège-Bastogne-Liège and can go far."

"La Doyenne is one of the toughest races of the spring and that is certainly not a disadvantage for us. I am satisfied from what my team has shown this spring. We always maintained that we would not be able to achieve another season like 2023. We expected the competition to get closer, which has come true. In every race so far we were competing for the win. There has been more tension, but Team SD Worx-Protime continues to compete for wins, however. Hopefully we can take our 16th win of the season in Liege-Bastogne-Liège."

Demi Vollering: "I love this race"

"I'm looking forward to defending my title in Liège-Bastogne-Liège. This is always a tough race and that suits me. It would be nice to win this monument already for the third time, but then I will have to deal with very strong competitors. The fact that Lotte Kopecky is riding this race gives us an extra card in the final. We can play with that. I believe Lotte can also win this race. Elisa Longo-Borghini and Kasia Niewiadoma will also come on strong. That I haven't won yet is a shame. But in cycling, you basically lose more than you win. That just makes me realize how special last year actually was. Now that you ride the races again, you understand how many factors have to be favorable to be able to compete for a win. Still, I go to Liège-Bastogne-Liège with confidence. It would be very nice to end my spring with a win."
