Demi Vollering and Team SD Worx continue to make history. After the Dutch WorldTeam took all stages and the overall win in the Spanish WorldTour race Itzulia, it does the same trick again in Vuelta a Burgos. Atop Lagunas de Neila, there was no limit to Demi Vollering, who managed to win the final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos for the second year in a row. The WorldTour leader thus also convincingly takes the overall victory. "The winner takes it all. This was the team's perfect race. They brought me perfectly to the foot of the climb, after which I finished it."

The final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos would decide the overall win. Team SD Worx immediately took control and kept the leading group with Sara Martín, Alexandra Manly and Elisa Balsamo within reach. Danny Stam's team imposed a cutting pace towards the Lagunas de Neila. Vollering: "The team worked really hard for me. All day we were in control and my teammates were pounding at the head of the peloton. Marlen Reusser led me in towards the climb. When she indicated that it was over for her, I thought: then I'll just go."

After which Demi Vollering went solo in the last eight climbing kilometres in search of the stage and overall win. "If you can create a gap, then you can ride uphill at your own steady pace. Of course you have to keep the gap, but I also wanted to see how fast I could ride uphill. This is good for what's to come in the future. I gain a lot of confidence from this with a view to the Tour de France Femmes."

Demi Vollering thus not only won the final stage, but is also a distinguished overall winner with a lead of 2:07 over Shirin van Anrooij and 2:11 over Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio. "Danny Stam was singing 'The winner takes it all' in my earpiece for the last few metres. This was Team SD Worx's perfect race. We were working hard every day for the best possible result and really did it as a team. So we can be really proud of this."

This brings Team SD Worx's victory counter to 26 wins. The fourth stage and final victory of Vuelta a Burgos account for the tenth and eleventh wins in a row for the team.
