Mischa Bredewold was known as a talented rider when she first joined Team SD Worx in 2023. The 23-year-old Dutch rider hoped to make new strides in her progression at WorldTour level. She did just that. Not only was she part of the winning Tour de France Femmes squad, she also won her first WorldTour race in Team SD Worx colours with the GP Plouay. She was also victorious in the Volta Limburg Classic and Lotto Thüringen Tour. The highlight of the season became the European road title.
"Mischa has had a fantastic year," says sports manager, Danny Stam. "When Mischa signed with us, we already saw in Mischa a top rider. However, she has developed faster than we expected. In her first season we had hoped to have her mainly as a good support role; a rider who could quickly profile herself on the second row. But Mischa was already above that at times, with victories in Thuringia, Plouay and, as a bonus, the European Championships, among others. Mischa has shown what class she has to offer."
Bredewold herself also did not expect things to go so well. "My first season went better than I had dared to hope," she looks back. "I was quite nervous when I travelled to the first training camp with Team SD Worx-Protime. I was hoping to not look silly in a team with so many big names. Very quickly the ice was broken. At the team-building camp I felt at home very quickly. I had hoped to get one win in 2023 and play my part in wins for the team. The fact I ended the season with three wins as well as the European jersey was beyond all expectations. The first time I saw myself in the European champion's jersey, it was somewhat surreal. I hope to honour it. Putting it on is already a thrill and gives me a lot of motivation to show my best in 2024 as well."

The European championships mark a wonderful end to the crazy road season for Team SD Worx. The European champion will also ride with the Dutch World team next year. Mischa Bredewold successfully completed a ten-kilometre solo and triumphed atop the VAM mountain, ahead of her teammates at Team SD Worx Lorena Wiebes (silver) and Lotte Kopecky (bronze). "I can't believe it. It feels unreal that I take the European title," Bredewold responded enthusiastically.
The 23-year-old Dutch rider was beaten by Sofia Bertizzolo and Karina Schrempf, but third place is a continuation of the strong evolution the youngster is making. "Bummer that I could not finish it off, but I am very happy with the steps I am making," she said.
